SUMMARY:What's in a Label?
DESCRIPTION:Most times when we see an artwork at a museum\, we look to its 
 label to know more about it. Artwork labels are a critical part of museum 
 exhibits — they can frame perceptions\, offer perspectives\, challenge a
 ssumptions\, and provide explanations. Museum professionals dedicate a lar
 ge amount of time discussing labels and studying what effects they have on
  visitor behaviour.\n\nLed by MAP's Jayati Srivastava\, this session will 
 begin with a guided walk of the ongoing exhibition\, Outside-In: Meera Muk
 herjee and Jaidev Baghel. This will be followed by an activity where parti
 cipants will be split into groups\, and they choose an object at the exhib
 ition to collaboratively come up with an alternate label for. The final pa
 rt of the workshop will focus on group discussions on the labels created\,
  insights gleaned\, and explore questions like\, "What story will a visito
 r leave with after they read a museum label?"\n\nThis workshop is free and
  open to those who are 18 years and above.
